Bauman Landscape and Construction, a respected general engineering contractor based in San Rafael, is seeking a Payroll Specialist / Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This full-time, in-office role is ideal for someone with construction accounting experience, strong attention to detail, and a proactive mindset especially someone comfortable with Union payroll and job costing.

Key Responsibilities 

Process weekly in-house Union payroll accurately and on schedule 

Perform job costing to track labor allocation across projects 

Submit union fringes, training fees, and monthly reporting; assist with union audits Calculate and file weekly payroll tax submissions 

Manage reimbursements, garnishments, and employee-related payroll issues Handle EDD notices, employee questions, and wage inquiries 

Review vendor invoices, run weekly checks, and reconcile monthly statements 

What You Bring 

Construction accounting experience required 

Union payroll experience strongly preferred 

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate level or higher)

Experience with accounting software systems 

Highly detail-oriented and organized 

Able to multitask and meet deadlines 

Strong communication skills and a team-player mindset 

Position Details 

Full-time, in-person role in San Rafael, CA 

Pay: $32$36 per hour, depending on experience 

Schedule: MondayFriday
